BERNIE
Dear Person that is reading this. This photo comes framed 24x36
I walked a lot of miles downtown before I figured out I should start taking photos of the buildings that stand in Fort Worth.
The Burnett Building (Built 1981, Completed 1983), which is what the photo is of, is the tallest building in Downtown Fort Worth.
It’s my favorite building downtown to shoot, for many reasons I don’t really need to get into.
It was a hot September night when I took this photo. I was listening to John Mayers new song “Carry Me Away.”
When you look at this photo, at least 1 time, I want you to put on some headphones, drink your drink, or smoke your smoke, listen to that song, and stare at this Photo.
The lines, shapes and dead space this perspective creates reminds me of a Star Wars space ship or something.
This building was made in the 80’s when Star Wars had really just burst on to the scene. I’m a big Star Wars nerd, sorry.
I’d like to think the architect and/or architects were all big nerds for a galaxy far far away as I am.
But this Burnett building is so 80’s. It feels so 80’s. It’s so Fort Worth it’s stupid.
I hope you can find yourself under its shadow someday, looking up at it from where I’ve stood.
Look up and tilt your head to the left a little, that’s the angle I was going for.
